Looks like they made it a little better for archers:
1) It's no longer "precision based damage", it applies to every damage roll made with the weapon. This combines with Many Shot rather effectively.
2) It's no longer limited to ranged attacks within 30', you get the bonus no matter how far away your target is.
Probably one of the reasons they changed shuriken.
