[3.5E] Weapon Familiarity!

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
Ok, we know that dwarves have weapon familiarity with the dwarven urgosh and dwarven waraxe but what about the other PHB races?

Here's what I think:

The Obvious

Gnome: Gnome Hooked Hammer
Half-orc: Double Orc Axe

Uncertain
Elf
Half-elf
Halfling: Halfling Nunchaku and Siangham (not likely; more likely these weapons be removed, as per the information noted on the D&D 3.5 Compiled Information page here on EN World).

Opinion?

Are all the races going to have Weapon Familliarity?

That ability should really be for weapons which are culturally significant while not being truly complex if you've been casually practicing with them for years. Elves just gain the weapons like that as bonus feats outright.

Somehow I can't think of any halfling weapon that is both exotic and conventinal to the halflings. The sling? The dagger? Skipping Rock? As a whole, halflings are pretty conventional with weapons, and aren't so warlike that they create crazy new blade-shapes. That's the cliche, just like dwarves with axes and elves with bows.

Well these are the 3.5E halflings. I bet it'll be the skiprock.

Waraxe not Dwarven Enough...

Oh, puh-lease! Just drop the the adjective "dwarven" from "dwarven waraxe." It's not that special to be considered a racial weapon, just a bastard sword version of an axe.

That's like giving humans weapon familiarity with a bastard sword.

Still not a fan of Weapon Familiarity. I'd rather they just go with automatic weapon proficiency like the elf in current 3e.

I agree about the drop 'dwarven' from dwarven waraxe thing but what about the thri-kreen in the back of Savage Species? Thri-kreen have Weapon Familiarity with both the gythka and chatkcha. It that case, it seems appropriate. At least, IMO.

I don't care about the four-armed bugs and will only use them as NPCs anyway. (One incident with a thri-kreen PC and a very lenient DM back in 2E was enough for me. Torches and pitchforks for any such monster enterin a civilized country in my campaign for sure.)

Am the only one who doesn't care for weapon famailieraty???

I am completely happy with a dwarf taking exotic weapon Dwarven Waraxe and such.

I won't rehash the whole debate but I NEVER had a problem with the exotic weapon profs, and may Rule 0 them when the new edition comes out.

Thats all

Elves may get weapon familiary in the elven thinblade (1d8 damage, 18-20, Weapon finesse-able, medium). Andy Collins created this weapon and he seems to be doing alot of work on this revision... same goes for the halfling and the skiprock.
