Just ran a one-man battle w/ 3 characters (ranger, fighter, wizard) v.s. 3 kobolds (skirmisher, dragon shield, slinger) for s***s and giggles. Keep in mind, there wasn’t a whole lot in the way of tactics/terrain. I just did what I thought each character might do in each situation. And it didn’t last long… this is a rough idea of what happened. 1st things 1st, darn kobolds all rolled high for initiative and all got to attack before the pc’s. rd. 1 fighter was attacked twice in rd. 1 for real good damage – down to about 14 hp from 33 wizard hit by slinger for 8, down to 12 skirmisher died after taking some damage from the ranger and a huge hit from wizard's encounter power (force orb), dragon shield took some good damage also from the same force orb along with damage from the fighter. He was down to 16 after round 1. Rd. 2 Fighter was attacked again by dragon shield, now down to 7 Slinger missed his attack …and this is where it ended… I decided it was time to try a daily power (the ranger’s “split the tree” on the dragon shield and slinger, who were within 3 squares of each other). Wouldn’t you know he rolls a 20 to finish off the dragon shield and take the skirmisher from 24 – 0 in one shot. It was awesome. I have to imagine if I was actually, ya know, playing with people, that would have been an amazing moment. Yeah, I know you would never use a daily on a kobold. And I know every combatant rolled really well. But that was an exciting, QUICK fight. 2 rounds. I thought these were supposed to be pretty long, rounds-wise? I’m sure I made some bookkeeping mistakes here or there, but I think I did things pretty accurately. I think I would like quick, but deadly encounters like that. I guess if the dice are hot, that’s what you get.
