Pathfinder 1E [3.P] Int, Wis or Cha for bonus Action Points?

ImperatorK

First Post
As the title says. Which mental stat would be best for bonus APs and why?

"None" is not an option. Stats other than Int, Wis or Cha are also not options. What classes or what build is used is also irrelevant, because this houserule is made regardless of that, in a vacuum, for future games. You have to pick one. I'm not interested in opinions about the houserule itself.

Different for different classes IMO. But don't make too much effort to avoid both SAD or MAD.

Maybe for Fighters it is Con or Dex...their strong fortitude allowing them to power through and take another action, or their quick reflexes giving them the energy to speed into another action.

Maybe for casters is it Cha or Wis. Your raw natural ability allows you to push beyond normal means into another action, or your years of long study allow you to spot a sudden weakness in your enemy and you strike quickly.

I would try to make sure that it is a stat the player of that class wants, but isn't a stat that player MUST have(such as str for fighters or int for wizards).

I'm asking regardless of class.

Mental stat.

Best mental stat to make a character deserving of bonus action points? NONE. Casters don't exactly need more bonus resources and they're the ones most likely to have invested heavily in a single mental stat. I wouldn't even suggest using a character's highest stat in general (whether physical or mental) because that would then favor Single-Attribute Dependent characters over Multiple-Attribute Dependent ones.

I don't think you understand. This is a general houserule for all of my future games, not something I'm giving to a specific player or class. So I can't make the decision based on what stat is lowest/highest or what classes my players use because the rule is made regardless of that, in a vacuum.

Mental stat.

IMO: then your answer, and your result is going to be poor. If you are not willing to make your rule more delicate, it can, and will be abused by people whose classes favor the stat you choose. You will get lop-sided games consisting of people whose natural class inclinations favor lots of action points, giving classes who already have more things to do EVEN more power over the game. You will get players purposely building characters to take advantage of your rules. If you are not willing to take into account the diversity of the game, I suggest using a 1/4th-level to determine APs.

You cannot make this rule in a vacuum, because the vacuum does not exist.

That's is not what this thread is about.

Clarifications for future: "None" is not an option. Stats other than Int, Wis or Cha are also not options. What classes or what build is used is also irrelevant, because this houserule is made regardless of that, in a vacuum, for future games, not as a custom rule for a specific group.
