My roommate did this deal once where the DM gave the a million XP that they could use to buy levels and/or magic items.  And then they were going to have a PC to PC duel to see who was the victor.He started out making a necromancer, but scrapped that idea, in favor of an archer.I have all 4 of those Encyclopedia Arcane books (from 2E), and he used those to build an insane archer.He was elven (of course), and put every stat, skill, kit (again, 2e) into archery.  He ended up with a character with magic items (two quivers of Ehlonna, IIRC), and some scary bow, and he could deliver something like 20-200 points of damage in a single round with NORMAL arrows.And he had something called a ring of the phoenix, which meant that if he was killed, he'd be reincarnated as a hybrid man/phoenix thing.  Totally munchkin.Anyway, the DM wouldn't allow it, since he decided it was too powerful.  Pfeh!In any case, I'd go with an archer, and then arcane archer, and dump every conceivable point, feat, skill, etc, into archery.  You will be completely unstoppable.</blockquote>
