Notes for myself on the next stage of my Western Shore campaign. http://ericrnoah.googlepages.com/westernshorecampaign As my group is wrapping things up in Sandpoint, I am considering moving them to a mountainous region where they can be near some adventure sites for 4th - 6th level PCs. Their homebase will be the rough mining town of Diamond Lake (from the Age of Worms adventure path -- not running it, however). Adventure sites I would like to sprinkle nearby... Tomb of Abysthor (Necromancer). The PCs have already encountered the strange "black orcs" that are featured in this module, so there's a hook right there. I could start with rumors in Diamond Lake regarding the vandalized shrines and see where that takes the gang. I might not worry so much about the plot of this module, or might find a way to tie it to Diamond Lake a bit more. Eye of Gruumsh (WotC). This might be one to run as a prelude to ToA. Change some of the tougher orcs in this module to black orcs. Come up with a different hook. The Scaly God (Dungeon Crawl Classic). I already have Whitefang Stronghold on my map, where it actually blocks three roads, so I may need to redraw the stronghold map. This could just be a good stand-alone adventure. The Slithering Overlord (Dungeon Crawl Classic). Looks to be the right level, and involves troglodytes, so maybe there's a connection with The Scaly God. The Mysterious Tower (Dungeon Crawl Classic). Clearing this out and solving its mystery would be fun, but even more fun would be if the PCs then used it as a base of operations. I could hide some secrets in it (such as a small network of portals that could later propel them to other more distant adventures). I could place this just on the edge of Diamond Lake or maybe a few miles outside of town. Carnival of Tears (Paizo). PCs need to be a little tougher, and it takes place in late fall or winter, so I will hold off on this one for a while. Three Faces of Evil (AoW #2). Change it up a bit, but I like the idea of a cult trying to unify three evil gods. I might use one of the abandoned mines instead of an active mine. The big question - Castle Whiterock (Dungeon Crawl Classic). Can I tie the slaving aspect in Castle Whiterock to the mining that goes on in Diamond Lake? What NPCs from Castle Whiterock do I need to plant in Diamond Lake? Or do I want to save this box for the next campaign? World/background stuff in Diamond Lake: what role do I want the monolithic human church, or the controling wizard's guild, to play in Diamond Lake? What political things going on in distant cities should affect life in a frontier town on the edge of civilized lands?
