If this is all a cosmic misunderstanding, then I am sorry this has happened and I'm sorry you feel singled out. That said, your turn of phrase absolutely mirrored, for example, those clickbait articles that popped up when 1I/ʻOumuamua passed through our solar system back in 2017 (which tried to imply that it must be a secret alien spaceship/message/spycraft and/or someone was keeping information about it secret, so you better click and find out). When you stated: I think many of the rest of use would have stated "It'll be interesting to see what we learn about this object," possibly with addended commentary like. "and what implications it has for our understanding of comets/related objects, or about solar systems other than our own." More to the point, IMO the best way to head this off at the pass is not to double down or wait five posts and then frame the situation as bullying/self-declared victimhood. Instead, I think the best course would have been to reclarify your position succinctly and straightforwardly. Between your OP and this one, you made five posts not addressing people's... curiosity with your turn of phrasing, we'll call it. You could have easily done something like: 'Noted. Whatever implication you read from it, it wasn't my intention. What I was trying to convey was ____________.' and it most likely would have cleared up the whole situation in a 2-3 sentences. There are interesting things to learn about this celestial body. It being from another solar system (potentially a much older one) might tell us more about how representative our Oort cloud is, or more about differences in the early universe. There's plenty to be discussed, and like many threads that get off on the wrong foot, the more quickly and smoothly we can get past the competitive 'no you're the one making this weird' phase, the more likely we are in being able to move into that discussion.
