I use the D&D compendium and other DDi tools a LOT now... I almost never crack open the MM anymore, as it's easier to just use the compendium and cut and paste. Same for Magic items, and rituals, and stuff.
I'm not even sure I'd want to do it any other way now. Which leaves me in a quandry- I'm now less inclined to use a 3pp book simply because it requires more effot on my lazy part.
So I was thinking know what would be mega-super? If some aspiring 3pp were to create an 3pp compendium...
In my fantasy it would be:
A web based database system like the current D&D compendium. More functionality would be awesome, but not less.
Users could buy subscriptions (or maybe just individual books?) to various 3pp who would regularily submit content to the database just like WoTC does with their material in the compendium.
I'm pretty sure I would use something like that. Not sure if the current (or future) GSL will allow something liek that though.
