40th Level Character Battle!

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this, so I'll post it here until it gets moved.

I have a plea. My friends and I, along with a bunch of other people, are getting together. We're turning our friend's entire garage into a huge battlefield. One on one combat between two 40th level characters.

Money will be laid down to make it more interesting. The rules aren't concrete yet, but you can use anything to make a 40th level character.

What should I make? I believe we're not going to allow epic spellcasting, and we may be not allowing mages, sorcerers, druids or clerics at all. Those rules aren't concrete, as I said. But what would YOU make? I don't know what to do yet, but I want to WIN!

If you know for a fact that your opponent will be good or evil, I would recommend going paladin or blackguard. Get as many smites as possible, and take the epic smiting feats. If you do it right you'll be able to deal disgusting amounts of damage.

Yep, absolutely disgusting. Since there are no casters in play, all you need to do is get insurance that you can smite, make sure your ability to move into position is good, and maybe rely on the paladin smite-smackdown from the sultans of smack. Wrap that up with as many of those feats as possible, and you should be able to deal 5000+ damage per round.

Though, honestly, I have no idea what a Munchkin like Janos or Sollir could do with a 40th level character. Undoubtedly, it would just kill things without many dice being rolled.

Argh. A 40th level character who doesn't have to worry about casters? I think some people on this board can come up with something that will kill his opponents so hard that their descendants up to the 4th generation will die too in the same moment.

wizard, 40th level wizard will own the field period. You have neough damage and resistance and so forth a wizard will brutally obliterate anything at that level...

I already said that wizards most likely won't be allowed. In addition I will have to fight a new opponent each round of the tournament, so they will be differing classes/alignments/et cetera each time.

You can post up what you like. I'll look it over to be sure. I have already made a 20 rogue/20 monk from a long time ago. He's good, but more like an all-around character.
