47,220. What is that?

First Post
The average print run of Dragon magazine for the last year (Sept 05 to Sept 06).

I actually thought it would be more than that, but I guess "sharing" really cuts down on number bought versus number of people who read it.

I wish my old Dragons hadn't burned or I would look at previous years statements of Ownership, Publication, etc.... to see what the numbers have been like over the years.

BTW, page 83 of Dragon 351.

Looked at an older issue, and it appears they didn't do it every January. The one I found one in, was #242 which is December '97.

Average number: 52,714

May try to look through all my issues (with the Dragon Compilation CD's) should be most, if not all of them, and post the results later.

That would be great. I think we could at least "guess" some stuff based on numbers published over the years.

Your making me wish I had bought that compilation.

Funny, the numbers aren't all that different even after 10 years. Yes, they're smaller and I'm sure that doesn't make Erik Mona happy, but, it's not like there's been a huge crash.

I started gathering these details from the Dragon archive CD some time back, but wasn't always successful in finding them (or being able to read them) - the data I did pull out is as follows:

Issue - Average Total - Average Non Subscriptions : Average Subscriptions (date)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragon #139 - 100,270 = 71,404:24,464 (November 1988)
Dragon #151 - 106,124 = 74,068:25,701 (November 1989)
Dragon #163 - 108,936 = 72,325:26,630 (November 1990)
...no results found for 1991...
Dragon #188 - 93,371 = 67,142:25,276 (December 1992)
Dragon #200 - 85,804 = 59,150:22,111 (December 1993)
...no results found for 1994...
Dragon #223 - 71,143 = 49,349:18,569 (November 1995)
...no results found for 1996...
Dragon #242 - 52,714 = 33,808:15,143 (December 1997)

It's not a crash since 1997, no, but there's also not the sort of improvement one might hope for with 3E and the many improvements Mona and company have brought to the title.

Could someone with Dragon 351 (I don't think I've got my copy yet) post the non-subscriber (it may be called something else) and subscriber break down numbers?

The question is, were the numbers lower between 97 and 2005? I know I have let my subscription lapse due to cashflow, but now I'm going to pick it back up again due to having missed some darn cool stuff.
