My thoughts:

The Big 4 archetypes will stay: Fighter (heavily altered), Cleric, Rogue, & Wizard (though probably changed to Mage).

Barbarian & Sorcerer still in because the article mentions them (personally hoping that if this is true the sorc will adopt warlock-style casting)

Beyond that it gets tough.

Druid could be done as a variant cleric, but Wildshape (however modified) makes this perhaps a big enough change to warrant a separate class. I voted in.

Ranger: Fighter variant or prestige. Out.
Paladin: Prestige. Out.
Monk: Fighter variant. Out.

Leaving Bard. Since one article mentioned something about making less played classes more desirable, & since bard is probably the least played class, I'm voting in, w/ major changes. I hope this is the case, as I love the bard archetype, but don't care for the current mechanic at all.

I could easily see "barbarian" and "monk" being talent trees for "Fighter".

"Ranger" and "druid" trees for "scout" maybe?

"Cleric" and "paladin" being trees for "champion"?

I don't know why everyone thinks the Barbarian is sticking around. It's just a fighter with particular talents or feats or whatever. The article in question mentions them by name, but the in the context of 3.5, implying that the current 'Barbarian' will change, just as much as the mage/sorceror combo.

:heh: I accidentally voted for what I thought would leave (Paladin and Sorcerer). I feel silly.

I got it right in the race thread, which is how I realized I did this one wrong.

I vote for the Big Four, with some customization so that Sorcerer, Monk and Barbarian will be folded into respectively, Wizard and Fighter. If that's done, there's a good chance that Ranger will be as well. Bard may become a varient of Rogue, though its enough of a catch-all category it may stay separate.

Alternatively, Ranger may become a variant of Rogue, or Ranger will be a base class with Barbarian and Druid going off of it.

Do we have any idea how many base classes there will be? For comparasion, how many classes does Star Wars Saga have?

I don't think Druid will be in the core book, but I think we'll see it in an add-on book, down the line. It would be easy to put Druid, Ranger and maybe Barbarian all in an add-on book.
