D&D 4E 4e cosmology variants.

First Post
I was wondering if anyone had come up with any cosmology variants yet for 4e. Here's mine:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
-material plane is in the middle of it all, obviously

-feywild and shadowfell are different planes, but are still reachable by walking through the material plane*. As in "worlds and monsters" they are twisted and contorted mirrors of the material plane. For my purposes, the feywild is a place swirling with arcane power and filled with fey(obvioulsy), and shadowfell is a place focused on negative energy and undead

*explanation: two cities exist on opposite ends of the material realm. One connects to feywild through a permanent astral-rife typey situation, and the other to shadowfell. I thought this was a cool idea, because it means low level characters can get to either simply by winning the trust of those who are guarding the unmoving entrance to the rift (which I made small enough to fit in the courtyard of a castle.) This rift transfers you to a always moving location in their respective locations. Like this or not, I don't care, I just thought it was a cool idea and wanted other's ideas for their own cosmology.

-Astral plane, and what (for lack of a better name) I'm calling the nine hells, are on the same plane as elemental chaos (meaning that they are reachable by common forms of movement) but they are in seperated areas.

Astral plane is the main home for good Gods, who have a few minor temples and one main temple located there. There is a general population of angels and its more of a lawfully place (not strict)

Nine hells is the main home for evil gods, who have yadda yadda. General population is devils and is more of a lawfully place.

-Elemental chaos is generally a swirling mass of all elements. many areas are mosly comprised or focuesed on one element, and its there that the temples dedicated to those elements are located.

general population consists of the constantly warring elemental archons and some demons. Obvioulsy a chaotic sorta place. I also want to have some sort of chaotic good element there if anyone has suggestions for a type of chaotic good outsider(i thought the main ones were eladrins, but I think im wrong)

-The farplane I've taken out of play as its a place of uinimaginable variance. Nothing is consistent and only completely insane creatures such as beholders dwell there. Going there means complete insanity outside of those who have some sort of ability to understand the unimaginable. location, time, color, senses in general mean nothing because the place is consistently immesearable.

oh yeah, and I've decided that Bahumet lives in the material plane in the middle of a gigantic city. suck on that critics. jk

-----------------------------------------

Keep in mind, this is my idea, you can argue against it but that's (hopefully) not what this thread is for, lemme know your ideas.

My preferred cosmology resembles the following, and has since 2nd Edition, but it really works well with the 4th Edition mindset:

* The Plane Prime
The home dimension of the Known Lands, the Plane Prime is considered by planar scholars and sages (at least those native to the Plane Prime) to be the center of the universe, and defines what is considered normal. All other planes are evaluated using the Plane Prime as the basis for comparison.

* Alternate Primes
Other realms that exist in a manner similar to the Plane Prime. Most alternate primes do not differ significantly in terms of planar traits, although they may be significantly different in other regards. Planar scholars note that alternate primes have different Patrons, whose clerics have power in those realms, but have no power in the Plane Prime. These scholars use this point to justify their stance that the Plane Prime is the center of the universe.

* The Grey Mysts
The Grey Mysts are a transitive plane of swirling grey mists which connects the various other planes together.

* Chorus of the Four Winds
A realm dedicated to the element of air.

* Deepmantle
A realm dedicated to the element of earth.

* Emberrealms
A realm dedicated to the element of fire.

* Everysea
A realm dedicated to the element of water.

* The Faerie Courts
The natural realm of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, this plane seems closely affiliated with the Plane Prime.

* The Lands of Light
A plane of spiritual ascension, the Lands of Light are marked by the presence of saintly Servitors and spirit creatures dedicated to selfless deeds and the protection/preservation of others. The Lands of Light are the common gateway to more good-aligned planes, such as the Manors Divine.

* The Manors Divine
Individual realms that serve as the home planes of the Patrons.

* The Shadowlands
A realm of restless spirits, trapped herein upon their death by the more vile Servitors and tormented by the twisted creatures that call this realm their home. The Shadowlands are the common gateway to more evil-aligned planes, such as the Infernus or the myriad of demi-planes known as the Ten Thousand Hells.

* The Infernus
A most vile realm, the Infernus is the home plane for the Patrons of the evil Servitors. Some scholars refer to the Infernus as the Manors Infernal for that reason, though the term is rarely used outside of academia.

* The Ten Thousand Hells
A collective name for countless vile demi-planes, the Ten Thousand Hells are the home realms of the evil-aligned Servitor races. Each plane is distinctive from the others, but their inhospitable environments do not support easily support life normally associated with the Plane Prime, causing them to be classified together by sages when the need for generalization arises.

My favourite cosmology has Ravenloft... and my players are never sure if there is anything really besides Ravenloft.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find too many players that like the degree of paranoia I like to inflict along with this cosmology.
