D&D 4E 4E Deities?

Sehanine is also a 4e deity from previous editions.

In addition to these deities, 4e added Avandra, Erathis, Ioun, Melora, and the Raven Queen into the mix.

Don't forget Moradin and Tiamat.

A big change for 4e are that Corellon, Sehanine, Moradin, Lolth, Bahamut, Tiamat, and Gruumsh are no longer primarily racial deities. They have specific domains that draw followers from all races.

Corellon = art & magic
Sehanine = passion, freedom, & the moon
Moradin = crafts
Lolth = lies & treachery
Bahamut = justice & valor
Tiamat = greed
Gruumsh = destruction & slaughter

They still are described as being the most popular or favored among the races that are traditionally associated with and feature prominently in the creation of those races, but they are no longer the "god of elves" or "god of dwarves" or "god of orcs" etc.

Another switch is that Correlon is more associated with eladrin (high elves) whereas Sehanine is more associated with ordinary (wood) elves.

Ugh, I forgot Torog, Moradin, and Tiamat, I must be slipping.

Since we are listing evil deities, Zehir, Tharizdun, and Asmodeus also make that list. So the list looks something like:

  1. Asmodeus
  2. Avandra
  3. Bahamut
  4. Bane
  5. Corellon
  6. Erathis
  7. Gruumsh
  8. Ioun
  9. Kord
  10. Lolth
  11. Melora
  12. Moradin
  13. Pelor
  14. Raven Queen
  15. Sehanine
  16. Tharizdun
  17. Tiamat
  18. Torog
  19. Vecna
  20. Zehir

20 gods, I believe, is the correct number. Of course, Forgotten Realms and Eberron have their own deities, but this (I believe) is the core set. Also, many of the gods from previous editions are now exarchs in service of these 20. For example, Maglubiyet (the major goblinoid deity) is an exarch of Bane and Sekolah (god of the sahuagin) is an exarch of Melora.

Is Orcus a god and a demon, or just a demon? I had always thought he was on about the same level (power wise) as Asmoedeus.

If he isn't a god, he's certainly trying darn hard to become one.

His power level falls just below a god in 4e, plus he lacks some of the bennies of being a deity (from a game mechanics standpoint), but yeah, he is trying hard to become the god of (un)death.
