The denizens of the cave finally react to your presence. The scarred tough-looking goblin barks in broken common Go around! Front! before rushing toward Zaram. Time seems to freeze as kobolds boil out of every passageway, and a contingent that was apparently waiting for you at the northern entrance follows the goblin's instructions -- rushing outside the cave and through the woods trying to flank your rear rank outside the waterfall. The minon charging Brock misses. The one charging Iridian hits [4 dam]. One of the dragonshields moves around through the passageways to threaten Tyron. The other moves up to Zaram [move] shifts [minor:shifty] and attacks [misses]. The goblin approaches Zaram it's powerful blow [barely misses]. A skirmisher injured by both Iridian and Tyron's attack moves up to Zaram [move] shifts [minor:shifty] and attacks [another near-hit] [sblock=OOC: Actions, tactics and my thoughts]You've had a fantastic set of rounds, so this may be a bit weird for me to say but I've been thinking about it a bit so I thought I would gently mention something. Actions, in all many games, are a kind of currency. You "spend" them to "buy" effects. If you don't use them then they are wasted -> so it is in your best interest to try to spend them. Some simple examples:

Iridian could have "spent" his minor action before shooting at the kobold ambusher/skirmisher to mark it as quarry. While it didn't matter in this case the extra 1d6 would have made a big difference given his low damage roll in a normal situation. By not spending that action you wasted it and "lost" that damage output.
Zaram could have "spent" his standard action to ready an attack against an enemy that came into reach (or to charge when an enemy got to a certain spot, or what have you). He might have missed of course, but by not bothering to use that action he forfited an opporutnity to do damage. He would probably still go before most, if not all of the monsters and could potentially get in a good hit.
KotS is written by Mike Mearls. He's a bit of a combat guru. I'm running it "as is". I've read the module, I've read no small number of threads about the module. I think it's fair to characterize it as a "combat trainer". It is my considered opinion that you will have tremendous difficulty progressing through the module without spending all of your actions in a round, paying close attention to your positioning and so forth. I don't mean to pick at people, or their choices, but I figure that this isn't the worst time to encourage you to challenge yourselves to make the best combat chioces you can. [/sblock]
