Hi all, I am the DM of a two-and-a-half year campaign that is about to lose a player due to personal family reasons. We will be at 23rd level by the time you join, and I know how that reads to you, but don't despair! I will be running another campaign when this one ends, and players from this campaign get dibs on joining. I promise I am as reliable a DM as they come. I've successfully run a 4e 1-30 campaign over the course of about two years. This one is slower because we play for four hours instead of five and spend a lot of time RPing and going off on (fun!) tangents. We typically play Thursdays, but if you seem like the kind of player who'd really fit in perfectly with our group, we would consider switching to another day. We are in the EST timezone and our games typically begin at 7 PM EST, though sometimes a delay forces us to start at 8 PM. We typically game until 11 PM, though sometimes we go over. We use Mumble (it's free) for voice (OOC). We RP in chat. We use Fantasy Grounds 2 for our tabletop software. Normally this would cost you money to buy, but I have a license that allows you to use the free edition with no limitations (as long as you're playing on my server). So, what kind of person are we looking for? Well, as I said in my thread title, we play an RP-heavy, story-and-character-driven game. The campaign is Enworld's very own "War of the Burning Sky" (you may have seen my PDF-to-FG2 conversion mods I post in that forum). I've modified it heavily to tie the characters into the overarching story. So we're looking for someone who appreciates that sort of thing. I try to railroad only as much as necessary, and love to see the group trying something I hadn't anticipated. We'd like to have a player who:

likes to create complex characters,
is interested in the unique role of RPGs as a means of group storytelling,
enjoys RPing their character,
enjoys ambiguous moral situations, including political plots, alliances and betrayals, etc,
and enjoys the concept of 4e combat as an abstraction of reality -- a sort of action movie that everyone partakes in.
You also need to be a sociable person, obviously. I've always found these sorts of player hunts to be extremely awkward. I think that's because we're basically looking for a new friend, something you don't typically "interview" for. At the same time, the enjoyment of the whole group relies on each individual contributing their share, so we can't just grab the first person who comes along. NOTE: Please e-mail me to apply: eugene.zar@gmail.com. Include your chat handle (Skype, AIM, MSN, Google Chat, etc) and a good time to reach you. I'd like to talk to you in person about whether or not you'd be a good fit.
