it's great you want fisticuffs. that is so strange that i must say i love it. i ran a world years back that i invented just what your discribing and looking for. i even named it the same thing. i invented it for a very similar purpose that your looking for. but the one i used in my world was not just for when you didn't want to kill your oponent but when you were out numbered and couldn't weild your weapon in effective manor. but still need to mame the enemy so fisticuffs were born. it was a pump able skill that each upgrade allowed more actions and devistating moves around along with with less chance of failure. but it wasn't restricted to just unarmed combat it could include a weapon of oppertunity such as a chair or candle holder, old animal bone, exe... in one battle i had separated a party member in side a narrow low ceiling kobold cave. when he was ambused by 10 kobolds. three jumped out of a passsage above landing on his back knocking him to the ground causing his sword to tumble out of his reach. So at the start of the first round he was face down in the cave with 3 kobolds pinning him one one standing on shoulders one holding his legs and the last stradling his back.and 7 others armed and pointing weapons at him 4 in front 3 to the back. So how did the player decide to handle this he decided to test his fisticuffs. i gave him a -4 penilty on his roll he was lvl 2 in the skill. he had a strenght of 17 and a dex of 16 giving him up to 3 moves in the round. due to the kobolds ac and everything he needed to roll a 14 or higher for each action. Well the luck guy rolled two 18 and 15. and in my games the more you beat the needed roll by the more i would allow you to get away with. so any ways he wanted to reach for one of the kobolds on his shoulders legs and hurl him in to the kobolds standing him front of him. ok successfull (18 rolled) 3 kobolds all tumble to the ground one while one of the falling kobolds sword enters the stomic of the kobold who was hurled. fallowing the move the wants to attempt to break his legs free and wrap them around the kobolds body and squeeze wh. ok successful again(18 rolled) so he break one leg free and knocks the kobolds in to the other and grabs it in a sissor hold. and starts crushing it. his last action hi to roll over. ok successsfull (14rolled) so he rolles over dislogging the last kobold and still having the one kobold in his leg lock. to not type the rest of the battle out i'll short hand it. at the point the kobolds attacks is ended up with a spear tip in his side a gash on his back and a dead kobold under his leg. that he managed to flip up in the air and boot at two other kobolds knocking them down. the one with a spear in his side wrist was grabed pulled forward and face smashed. then he used a tumble and fisticuffs skill check to to return to his feet in a swift motion grab another kobolds face and emplant it in the floor after standing. the count was one dead kobold 2 knocked out and one wounded bleeding badly. he continued to batter snatch and grab kobolds for the next 3 rounds. he left one alive with two broken arms and questioned it until he knew everything he wanted to about the kobold dwelling. the important thing to remember is when using the skill that failure can cause personal pain to your self or at least give the enemies an opening to you. i hope you find this useful i always loved describing the bacttle in the game when some one put the weapons down and said i want to use fisticuffs
