It's not like you have to run out and buy 80+ new books the day 4E comes out. You just need to have the disposable income to continue buying on a sustained basis. You obviously (with 80+ books) seem to have the income to devote to a new edition if you buy the 4e books at the same rate you're buying 3e books. On the flip side, WotC needs to be able to continue to produce D&D material, but it is a valid choice to keep playing whatever version you want.
