I plan on running through the published modules. So far, I have run the first session of KotS, and it looks like I'm going to need some more players.
The current players I have:
Eladrin Rogue (Artful Dodger)
Half-Elf Bard
Halfling Barbarian
When
Saturdays, 7-11pm EST.
Program Requirements
Maptools version 1.3.b52 (This is the development version).
Skype. Although one player is trying to get a Ventrilo server.
Attendance
I plan on running a tight ship. I understand if you can't make it, but I expect some ahead-of-time notification. If you don't show up for a game twice in a row without notice, you're out. If during two consecutive game nights, you disconnect and do not return, you're out. If you don't make it and don't reply to my emails within a week, you're out.
Etiquette
Again, I plan on running a tight ship. I expect the group to act like a group. Be fair, be nice to eachother, and work together within reason. I'll give everyone two weeks after joining the game to see if you "fit in". If you're disruptive and rude at the expense of other's fun, then you're out. The group will have a say in who goes, so it won't just be my draconian decision here.
Your character must have a reason to stick with the group/go on the adventure, or otherwise the game breaks down.
Mind you, this does not mean that I expect everyone to be sugar sweet to one another. Your characters can disagree. Your characters can be sarcastic (the halfling is a drunken, belligerent butt). But I loathe infighting, back stabbing, and undermining one another.
What I'm looking for
The party would find use with another Defender or Leader, since the Barbarian is a glass cannon. A controller wouldn't hurt.
Character Creation
Point Buy: 24 (instead of standard 22)
Starting Gold: 112gp, and one level 1 item of your choice (thus, +1 sword, +1 armor, +1 amulet)
What is allowed
Classes: PHB1, Swordmage, Martial Power, PHB2 (For two weeks, this means the previews/Barb/Bard Playtest), Beastmaster Ranger. (In May, the Monk is getting a playtest; you can play that as well).
Banned Builds: Battlerage Vigor (Martial Power), Archer/Two Weapon Ranger (PHB).
If you don't have access to DDI, you can download the demo for the character builder; it has the first 3 levels of each class preview (These are all the classes in PHB2 except the Avenger). Even if you're not using one of those, it is a rather slick program that can help you build your character.
Races: PHB1, PHB2, Warforged, Shadar-Kai, Genasi, Half-Dead (One Bad Egg; I can supply you the PDF).
Equipment: Adventurer's Vault.
Misc: Sure, I'll allow Dragon articles. I'll share articles with you. Third Party Publications, however, I'll have to review.
House Rules
Halflings/Dwarves/Eladrin/Gnomes all receive a +5 to saving throws against a certain keyword. Instead of this, the benefit works as such:
+2 to your defenses against powers with that keyword (i.e. Dwarves vs. Poison). In addition, if you receive a condition associated with one of those keywords, you may use an immediate reaction to make a saving throw against the affect.
The fighter At-Will "Sure Strike" is adjusted as follows:
Effect: You gain a +2 power bonus all attacks until the end of your next turn.
(Therefore, you use Sure Strike as normal, and then if you make an Opportunity Attack, Immediate attack, or any attack you make on the next round, receives a +2 to the attack).
Sunrods: When activated, they become immobile.
Daily Powers: If you miss with a daily power in an encounter, then you regain use of the power after a short rest.
Willing to make adjustments to wizard at-wills.
Between Game Communication
I expect to at least be able to get ahold of you between games via email. The game might be cancelled for some reason, I might have some game relevant info for you, etc. So if you don't check your email once a week, that would be problematic.
Additionally, I have set up a messageboard where folks post their characters, RP between sessions, and post session logs. I encourage participation.
Prior Module Knowledge
If you've read the modules, that's okay. One of the players has, and he is keeping his player knowledge under wraps. I plan on changing the modules up enough that it won't be a straight run through, but even so I can imagine not wanting to play through it when you know most of the surprises.
Just a sidenote
If you have a weird idea, want to pitch an interesting re-interpretation of a class, pitch it. Despite the tough sounding nature of this post, I'm very much player-encouraging. I usually say "Yes" to something a player proposes, unless it's 1) broken, or 2) going to fracture the mood (a mime in a Call of Cthulu game).
