Hi,

I couldn't find another thread on this so thought I'd start one. Following on from the superb Wrath of the River King, Halls of the Mountain King and Courts of the Shadow Fey comes Open Design's fourth 4th Edition D&D patron project, the Lost City, to be written by D&D designer Logan Bonner with patron contributions.

The project is about half way towards its commission after a couple of weeks which means it's off to a good start!

Details are here

I've been involved in quite a few of these projects now - not only are they great fun but you learn a LOT about good adventure design!

Cheers

I was a patron of the first 3 projects so I remember that one of those was originally presented as a Lost city, possibly a flying city, and I know Wolfgang used some of his ideas from that for Crucible of Chaos, but I wonder how much this might be linked to his original lost city pitch.

I don't think much of it is but I might be wrong. There are three lost cities being discussed by the patrons:

* Kadralhu, City Beneath the Sands, a place of shifting dunes and layers of lost civilizations.
* Beldestan, the Pillars of the Sky, offers a single step from a dusty shrine to the highest vault of the heavens, the resting place of an ancient godling imprisoned long ago.
* Jotunheim, the Flying City, a flying city of the cloud giants now fallen into neglect, but capable of appearing anywhere in a campaign world with a cargo of adventure – and colossal dangers.

Of these, Beldestan is Wolfgang's pitch. The other two were both proposed by senior patrons. Discussion so far has been centred around combining the most interesting aspect of two or even all three of these.

Cheers

Hi,

There's a great article featuring an interview with Logan and Wolfgang here.

The commission is now at over 75% - if you're thinking of joining, try and get in soon as the price will go up once the project gets the green light.

Cheers
