Long ago, the Ancients built great machines called Dungeons to distill magical energy into the form of monsters. When slain and disenchanted the monsters become a substance called Marrow, the most precious substance in all of Runa. The Party A Dwarven Cleric who worships a god of fire and light. A Doppleganger Rogue who trades stolen Marrow on the black market. A Human Wizard. An Aasimar Paladin who seeks to regain his family's honor after his Step-Father lost control of the towns Dungeon to a group of invaders. This is the party. They seek to regain control of their towns Dungeon which has been taken over by soldiers from the north-west. The Town The town of Niknam, the PCs' hometown, is flanked by blue oceans to the west and rocky mountains and desert to the east. It was once a prosperous Marrow town until invaders took over the Dungeon. They still deal in mining from the nearby mountains and trading with their port, but the town has become a decrepit rundown shadow of its former self. The player characters can save their town by recapturing their Dungeon. The easiest way to get to the Dungeon is by walking along the sandy beaches. Once the goblins living on these beaches insured safety for all, but now they have been corrupted by the invader's money. The Beach Notable Features: A group of pirates once buried treasure on this beach. Treasure seekers have been digging holes here ever since trying to find it. The island of Ykin can be seen in the distance. Halflings live there and grow many fruits and spices. There is an abandoned house where players can rest after killing the zombie inside. There is some money hidden under a loose floodboard. The cliffs are honeycombed with goblin dwellings. Encounters: Goblin Patrol (175 XP) 1 Goblin Warrior 3 Goblin Cutters Beach House Zombie (125 XP) 1 Zombie Goblin Gate (300 XP) 2 Goblin Sharpshooters (perched on a wall) 2 Goblin Cutters (After passing the wall, players will find a treasure chest containing a couple of healing potions.) Goblin Fort (600 XP) 2 Goblin Warriors 2 Goblin Sharpshooters 1 Goblin Hexer (This place contains beds where players can rest after defeating the goblins, barrels full of food, and and treasure chests containing health potions. Players will also find shields here emblazoned with the winged orange star, symbol of the northern invaders.) Camp of the Orange-Stars Players finally get to confront the Orange-Stars. Guards on the Wall (300 XP) 2 Human Guards (perched on a wall) Guards at the Armory (300 XP) 2 Human Guards (Inside the armory players will find many different kinds of weapons and armor.) Guards at the Dungeon Entrance (600 XP) 2 Wolves 1 Human Guard 3 Human Rabble Kind of strange how there were so few soldiers there. It looks like most of them left in a hurry... Once the guards are all killed or driven off, players will have access to their Dungeon. They might want to sleep in the barracks first. The Dungeon (first floor) It's kind of cold in here... Looks like the Orange Stars have been decorating though. Theres wooden platforms all over the pla- OH CRAP! STIRGES! Entrance (300 XP) 3 Stirges Treasure Room (300 XP) 3 Stirges This room contains three treasure chests. When you open them, three Stirges will fly out. After killing them, you may claim the contents. I'm not sure what these should be though... Dragon in the Statue Room (750) 1 Young White Dragon After slaying the dragon and collecting its remains to be made into Marrow, players will notice a stone door between the two statues of a human and an orc. The orc and the human were brothers who once owned this dungeon. Though the orc was adopted, his brother loved him just the same and the two went on many adventures together. Each brother kept a key to this door with them at all times. You must collect the keys to open the door so that you may proceed to the lower levels of the dungeon. OK, so thats what I've planned out so far. I feel like I am railroading the players too much so I need to come up with other paths and other things for the players to do. Any suggestions? Any comments on what I have so far?
