With Swashbuckling Adventures in hand I've created a character for 7th Sea: Janoux Rie, Roi et Reines Rifleman, Lvl 1. A suspended Rois et Reine rifleman trying to win the gold necessary to rid himself of dirty moneylenders. On a mission of freedom and restoration of honor. Keeps the secret of his mystical heritage close. ABILITY SCORES Str 14 +2 Con 11 +0 Dex 18 +4 Int 10 +0 Wis 14 +2 Cha 10 +0 Armor Class 17 (Royal Tabard) Fortitude Defense 13 Reflex Defense 15 Will Defense 13 Initiative +4 Speed 6 Hit Points 23 Bloodied 11 Healing Surge HP Healed 5 Healing Surges per Day 6 Basic Attack Name Musket +6 vs AC 1d8+4 15/30 minor reload Bayonet +4 vs AC 1d8+4 Rapier +4 vs AC 1d8+4 FEATS Montaigne Soldier +2 damage and proficiency with rapier and bayonet Marksman (see Crack Shot) SKILLS Passive Insight 12 Passive Perception 17 Acrobatics +9 Athletics +7 Bluff +5 Diplomacy +5 Insight +7 Perception +7 Stealth +9 NATIONALITY AND CLASS FEATURES Porté (see below) Crack Shot (once per turn as a minor action, designate the neareast enemy your target; once per round do +1d8 damage against your target; remains active until target is defeated, encounter ends, or you switch target; only 1 quarry at a time.) Languages: Montaigne EXPLOITS Careful Attack You study the enemy, looking for a gap in his defenses. Only when you find it do you strike. At-Will * Martial, Weapon Standard Action Ranged weapon Target: One creature Attack: Dexterity +4 vs. AC Hit: 1[W] damage (no added Dex damage). Nimble Strike You slink past your enemy’s guard to make your attack, or you make your attack and then withdraw to a more advantageous position. At-Will * Martial, Weapon Standard Action Ranged weapon Target: One creature Special: Shift 1 square before or after you attack Attack: Dexterity vs. AC Hit: 1[W] damage + Dex. Fox’s Cunning Using the momentum from your enemy’s blow to fall back or slip to one side, you make a sudden retaliatory attack as he stumbles to regain his composure. Encounter * Martial, Weapon Immediate Reaction Melee or Ranged weapon Trigger: An enemy makes a melee attack against you Attack: You can shift 1 square, then make a basic attack against the enemy. Special: Gain a +2 power bonus to your basic attack roll. Porté (Montaigne mystical bloodline) With a step, you vanish from one place and appear in another. Encounter * Teleportation Move Action Personal Effect: Teleport up to 5 squares. Doublet Shot You fire two barrels at once, which separate in mid-flight to strike two different targets. Daily * Martial, Weapon Standard Action Ranged weapon Targets: Two creatures within 3 squares of each other Attack: Dexterity vs. AC. Make two attack rolls, take the better result, and apply it to both targets. Hit: 2[W]+ Dex damage. *** Basically I bought Eladrin Fey Step for the free human feat plus extra power. I ditched Dungeoneering or Nature in favor of Bluff (which is on the Roi et Reines skill list). The other skills are identical. As a human I picked diplomacy from the two 'free' skills all Montaignes get. The musket is identical to crossbow. The reload time is one minor action. Perhaps it would be more realistic to have three standard actions, or some such, but that defeats the purpose of a rifleman (he'd have to resort to bayonet or rapier after the first shot of every encounter.)
