I'm probably just missing this, but can you take a 5 foot step to leave a threatened area without provoking an attack of opporunity?
A situation would be a mage is being threatened, so before his action (casting a spell) he takes a 5 foot step backward so as to longer be threatened, and then casts a spell without provoking an AoO.
Cause I know normally, leaving a threatened area does provoke an AoO, unless all you do is withrdraw...
