My new idea is the players using an "avatar" or incarnation of their characters within the dreamlands like an independient PC, with a separate XPs pool and a different class system, a simpler version like the survivor classes from Ravenloft 5e. The plane of dreams has got a great potential to create new stories because here you could add elements from other franchises and you shouldn't worry about the power balance because you aren't using the "original ones" but a "nerferd" version, for example Transformers, or a mash-up mixing Gamma World and G.I.Joe. Using these "avatar classes" could allow something like remote-control constructs style the movie "Surrogates" or the transhuman "sleeves" from "Altered Carbon" (novels and teleserie) or the TTRPG "Eclipse Phase". The power balance wouldn't be broken because the players only would be controlling like a construct monster ally nPC (with a lower level).  Other idea is a faction whose beliefs is the origin of the psionic powers is in the past primal.vs.divine war some powers were destroyed, but not totally and then their essences "broken into pieces" creating "starshards". Then some souls are born with "starshards", the source of their psionic powers. Of course more one deity will be not happy with that type of lessons and you could guess some potential religious conflict. ("if we can become the new deities then we don't need so much the previous").And the "mirage domains" could be a new source of stories. These are like astral realms, but they are created when some group or power "conquers" a portion of the mirror plane. Then this "reject"the zone creating a mirage domain. A "mirage domain" also could be created "accidentally" because some event with a great emotional impact, for example a murder, or a happy event like a wedding. Usually the "happy mirage domains" are "acquired" by the celestial planes.</blockquote>
