They have large ears which protrude up and backward from the top of their elongated heads. Their snouts are large and rest above nasty looking jowls. They are covered in fur/hair that varies greatly in colour and length (usually dependant on their tribe). On average they stand 5’ tall and have a quite heavy build due to a very developed muscular structure; the females are slighter in height and build to the males. Only recently, after a long struggle for the liberation of their lower ‘slave class’, have they began to communicate openly with other species and empires and many are still suspicious and distrusting of aliens, and the threat posed to their tribal culture by joining an intergalactic community.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Relations</strong></p><p>The first major establishment of regular communication with an advanced alien government was with the Human Empire, whose borders expanded to meet the Coalition’s 116 years ago. Accords were met relatively quickly due to the Coalition’s mineral rich colonies. They have been quick to adopt the strong economic structure of the Empire and have profited from frequent contact with the human mega corps. However, due to contact with human’s liberal values and concept of ‘rights’, a great power shift occurred and a civil liberation movement has thrown the most ruling aristocracy into disfavour. Through the Empire, the Coalition has also traded with the Union and the Sirian Alliance, but these contracts are only made rarely. The Coalition is still unstable at the moment and they are cautious about allowing other species too much influence over their development. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Territory</strong></p><p>The Coalition is in fact made up of a fluctuating number of smaller provinces, each under the authority of one tribe. Once each tribe was ruled by a ‘noble’ pack, but only twelve of these now remain; those who were not able to adjust to the new liberal way of life fell victim to mobs of the angry ‘lower’ classes. The home system; Bataan, is considered both neutral territory and owned territory to each tribe. The home world is an extremely large planet with an Earth-like atmosphere and a slightly higher gravity (1.2 G) and a considerably longer day-night cycle. The world’s equatorial belt is also disproportionately large; the 3 central continents are covered in dense tropical rainforests which abruptly end at the foot of immense, snow covered mountain ranges to the north and south. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Technology</strong></p><p>Although the Averoux have been space fairing for almost 100 years longer than Humans, their general level of technology hasn’t developed much since the discovery of warp travel. The Coalitions resources are constantly shifting from project to project as different tribes that come into power place emphasis on their personal goals.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Averoux Names</strong></p><p><strong>Male Names:</strong> Force, Howl, Ideas, Noble, Roads, Strike, Vicious.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Female Names:</strong> Heavenschild, Rainmaker, Springsgift, Storyweaver, Wayfinder.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Pack Names:</strong></p><p> </p><p></p><p><u><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong>Species Traits</strong></span></u></p><p>Your Averoux character has these traits in common with all other members of the same species.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>Ability Score Increase.</em></strong> Your Constitution score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score or your Strength score increases by 1.</p><p><strong><em>Age.</em></strong> Averoux mature biologically at a similar rate to humans, but are expected to contribute to the pack as an adult by the age of 16 Standard Years. Average life expectancy is 80 Standard years.</p><p><strong><em>Alignment.</em></strong> The Averoux governing body; the Coalition came to power through the power of technology coupled with an innate aptitude for tactical thinking. Many with ties to militaries espouse the tech-logic ideology that took the species to the stars. However, following the social upheavals of the past century, a growing population now looks back to the species’ nomadic past when nature was revered through totemic religion. This means that a growing number of young Averoux look favourably on ecological views and are turning to a revived ancient religion.</p><p><strong><em>Size.</em></strong> Your size is medium.</p><p><strong><em>Speed.</em></strong> Your base walking speed is 20 feet. But if you have nothing in your hands you can drop to all fours and use your powerful hind legs to increase your base speed to 50 feet.</p><p><strong><em>Darkvision.</em></strong> Having evolved on a huge world with a long day-night cycle, Averoux are accustomed to living in the twilight of dawn and dusk. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You gain darkvision out to 60 feet.</p><p><strong><em>Keen Senses.</em></strong> You gain proficiency in the Perception skill.</p><p><strong><em>Menacing.</em></strong> You gain proficiency in the Intimidate skill.</p><p><strong><em>Claw Fighting.</em></strong> You gain proficiency with <em>combat claws</em>, and they do not prohibit you from using your 50 foot speed.</p><p><strong><em>Pack Tactics.</em></strong> You can use the Help action (phb192) as a bonus action in melee combat, and creatures within melee range of both you and at least one ally suffer a -2 penalty on attack rolls.</p><p>(<em>If you are using the optional flanking rules (dmg251), this trait instead imposes disadvantage on attack rolls that do not include you as a target made by a creature that you are flanking)</em>.</p><p><strong><em>Thick Coat.</em></strong> You have a thick coat of fur that covers sixty percent of your body or more, allowing you to retain heat. You gain resistance against cold damage.</p><p><strong><em>Languages.</em></strong> You can read speak and write InGal, Alphan and Omegan. The Alphan language was once that used by the ruling aristocratic tribes, and therefore the default language of the Coalition’s infrastructure and military, in recent times it is becoming more commonly used as access to education is becoming more equal in Averoux society.
