The 6/21 DDI update is live.

Here is what is included, as well as the reason why last months update didn't happen.

Here’s what to look for in Tuesday’s DDi update:

All the monsters from Monster Vault: Threats to the Nentir Vale;
Content from Dragon 397 and 398;
Content from Dungeon 188 and 189;
The templar cleric, incorporating the updates that will be released on the 21st;
Plus the normal monthly errata and bug fixes, including an improved Inventory and Marketplace interface.


At the end of May, we were hoping that the delayed May update to the Character Builder would happen sooner rather than later, but unfortunately we were unable to make that happen. Here’s why.

Initially, the update was delayed because testing revealed a bug at the last minute. Rolling out the update with the bug would have proven worse than delaying the update, so we were put on hold. The plan at that time was to pin down the bug’s origin, and once we were confident that it wasn’t living in the new content (the templar and other monthly updates), that material would be made available without the other software upgrades.

Around the same time, the templar article was published and many of you had some strong feedback for us. With pages of feedback to consider, R&D decided to review the templar changes one more time and determine whether any re-adjustments were warranted. By the time those evaluations were done, alterations were made, and changes to the digital material were implemented … here we are. At this point, we’ve decided to deploy all of the June updates at one time rather than splitting them by less than a week.

Also note that the compendium will currently throw an error when you look at a ritual. This is a known bug and will be fixed in an update on 6/28 (next week.)

The 6/21 update contains a known bug (in the Compendium only). Anytime you try to view the details on a ritual in the Compendium, you'll see a server error instead. Your ritual book in the CB should be unaffected.

We're going ahead with the update as scheduled, because the bug has only minor impact. It's expected to be fixed with an interim update on 6/28.

So just a new inventory section? Is there a goal date set when we will see the ability to add extra feats?

So, can we download the updated articles? Or are the changes only in Compendium and CB? I'm already noticing a lot of the Templar changes have been scratched out, a few remain.

I haven't seen any indication of when (or if) they are planning to allow that. I have poked, but have gotten no response on this topic.

There appear to be other bugs in the compendium.

When I try to apply any level, enhancement, or other restrictions for an item search, nothing is returned, ever.

For some reason I seem to recall them saying that they were hoping to implement some support for house rules in the Fall, but I could simply be imagining that.

As for the inventory/marketplace update, I actually do think its about time. I know the previous inventory/marketplace interface was down right horrible. In fact, I never did figure out how to delete an item from my inventory. Hopefully that's been improved -- can't access it from work though so will have to wait to find out.

Opening up the Mage and Sorcerer classes also brings up server errors. Ugh. I'm not sure whether it's just A) amateur hour over there, B) they just don't care, or C) incompetent managers giving insufficient staff unrealistic goals.

The server errors seem to all be arising from the same issue, which involves tables. Those will be fixed with an interim update next Tuesday, June 28.
