[sblock=OOC] 1 - Sure, having the western monsters resisting cold screws a bit with some powers. But then again, beside knowing he needed some resist cold because od his chilly pet, Rinch knew exactly what happened in the first fight back at Castor's where the twin Armor of Agathys was so efficient. He creates his zombies through his blood an gets a sense of what they are doing, where they are, how they died etc. He'd have little reason not to ready some cold protection, knowing he was going after you. Much like you would have little reason not to be quaffing fire resistance if you knew ahead of time you'd be facing a red dragon. Beside, well over half the monster do not have that resistance. So do you want to focus on the most dangerous monsters or on those you can take down the quickest, hmm? I ain't sorry at all to force hard choices! 2 - Let's not be too literal about the potions durations. They had scouts (the very stealthy Dark one) and you were running most of the way so they heard you coming. They just quaffed the potions about thirty seconds before you came into sight. I am pretty sure that drinking an encounter potions just a short while before the actual encounter is legit. Then they grouped near Rinch and he used one of his Shadow powers to turn them invisible as long as they didn't move. 3 - Rinch has very good control over his zombies. He certainly can get them to quaff potion on cue if he wants. He can get them to mount up a clumsy presentation of Lord of the Dance, if he wants. This foe is fairly new to you but the other three PCs won't be surprised at that. They've been fighting Rinch's troops for a long time, now. Even when he's not present, his Zombies have always been mildly tactical. Lucky you there are no Spider Zombies. I wanted some restraint on the number of different monsters stats I'd deal with (plus they fill the same role as the Dark Ones)! 4 - I didn't even think about Second-Wind for Rinch, truthfully. The last time he was killed, he didn't use it. But I checkedm and Velmont is correct. The Compendium states that only Player Character can use second wind unless the monsters/NPC stat block specifically says otherwise. The DDI Compendium is always up to date for Errata, it overrules every other sources. http://www.wizards.com/dndinsider/compendium/glossary.aspx?id=334 Bottom line, yes, the Western monsters have quaffed potions of resistance 5 to cold, the Eastern ones have not. I hope this answers most questions. Now get to it. [/sblock]
