Dioltach - I agree with the final standings. Not too sure about France & England – that’s a bit too close to call but I’m hoping for an Irish victory overall. France haven’t really performed. I think they started to believe they’re own hype when they got the 2nd in the world ranking before the autumn internationals. A pair of absolute spankings from the ABs should have woken them up. But apparently not… Ireland are finally showing that Northern Hemisphere teams have flair, skill, grunt and they’re not afraid of taking some risks. Good to see and I’ve love to see the Irish make a semi-slot in the World Cup. England – well where to begin, they won one team with what was a patched together team hastily put together based around injury problems. Doesn’t say much for Ashton sadly – I really hoped that he’d be the one to show me that the English can actually be a good team. It’ll require a miracle for them to make the semi’s come September! Wales: this makes me really sad. Wales used to be so good. They were entertaining, threw the ball around, took their chances. They played good rugby. I dunno what’s happened but they post World Cup they need to take a long, hard look at themselves for the future. Italy: YAY it’s nice to see the smaller, less wealthy teams get some decent performances in and historically their first away win of the tournament. To me Italy are a classic example of what happens to the ‘smaller’ rugby nations when they get let in to play with the big boys. The Italian game has drastically improved ever since they got into the 6 nations, and while they have Kirwan as their coach of course ;).
