I gotta vote for the first suggestion: Rakshasa. I don't have the Savage species in front of me, but I thought about it: Reads minds (continuously, I might add) to learn all of the PC's secrets, alter self (again continuously) to appear as other people if he wants, immune to 3rd level and lower spells (wow!), damage reduction of something like 10 or so (!), casts as a sorcerer of the same level AND can cast 1st level divine spells too. The only real drawback is a blessed crossbow bolt, and I know not many parties carry a pack of them around. Not only the above but a Rakshasa is intelligent enough to infiltrate a party and be super scary when finally revealed for who he really is. He is lawful evil and would align with some other BBEG that would be more powerful than him. Add some feats and weapon focus and he is pretty kick @$$ in melee, and if you have some cronies to help you out as meat shields you will have it made throwing sorcerer spells at an enemy. As the evil guy you could keep the fact that you know magic secret and fight along side the front lines since you would be immune to most critters too. Or vice-versa, just cast from the back lines as a sorcerer while you know them and then rip them apart if they engage in melee with you. You could be very versitile, but you might want to hide from the churches with high level clerics that have true-sight.
