How about a doppelganger/cleric 4th or 5th. Looks like a dwarf or some other base speed 20 race. Stats str 15 dex 13 con 12 int 14 (+1 at 4th level) wis 16 chr 12 domains death/trickery +1 chain glamered +1 weapon of choice necklace of fireballs type IV bead of force Feats improved initiative exotic weapon proficiency (locking garrotte) Skills profession (cook/chef) bluff disguise hide heal knowledge (religion) Stubby little legs always bring him into battle late, he's just a healer. Good cook, handles all the meals and enjoys it. So understanding, always knows just what to say and what is bothering a PC. Helpful and generous with the healing. He also has a passion for halfling liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti. Nothing quite like corn fed elf and since he is the company cook, the elf gets lots of corn. Changes form to lead the PC's here or there. Never around whenever a true sight effect is available ("Oops, did I break your Gem of Seeing") Started as an unaligned cleric with trickery domain, more good than evil. Spontaneous casting is healing. Had trouble with normal society they never liked finding out that he wasn't what he seemed. And then he met an Insidious Mastermind, who being an insidious mastermind thought "Gee, what a keen little spy!". Now he has death domain and death touch "I tried to heal him but he's already dead. Yumyum..err boohoo. Use his items to wait for the right moment. Build trust and betray. Or, if the PC's have been kind and developed a true relationship over a long period perhaps a Benedict Arnold to the Insidious Mastermind. Depends on how the campaign goes. I don't know, the PC's won't know and in a perfect world maybe even the DM doesn't have to know till it matters.
