A Bard for a new player

Dandu: Lurking, mostly.
Most threads I have recently read didn't inspire me to reply. So I didn't :)
Also, it seems the threads I did reply to didn't inspire you to read them, so I guess you missed some of the posts I did make.
kingius: enWorld is a fairly friendly place. Although Dandu specifically can be quite the snarky responder if and when he feels people are providing comment without a significant base of background information. (no disrespect meant, Dandu, but tell me, am I wrong?)

I believe the appropriate phrase is: 'You do not have the right to an opinion. You DO have the right to a well-informed opinion, preferrably accompanied by references to accepted sources.'

That's a sure fire way to kill the hobby. You'll be telling me I need to get my opinions peer reviewed next. This is a /game/ people, lighten up. You are not scientists or judges, this is not a court of law; you are experts in a framework that simulates fantasies that has no value to society outside of entertainment! In other words, stop taking things so seriously or you'll drive people away from the very thing you love so much.

Ah yes, Magic Missile, the most powerful of the first level Sorcerer/Wizard spells.

I actually have it on all of my sorcerer's spell lists. Every single one I make. People familiar with my builds will remember this if they have been paying attention.

You do yourself a disservice by doing me a disservice because the disservice that you do disserves you.
While this may be true in this specific case, you must admit, it is difficult for the rest of us to know when you're sarcastic and when you are serious.

On topic, the build doesn't appear to complicated for what I'd expect out of a new player who's familiar with gaming and fantasy ingeneral and is eager to learn. Is the new player ok with playing a party support role? Especially one with the image of a "little drummer boy"? Some new players imagine fantasy as smashing dragons with swords, some with weilding woshing explodey spells, if this fits his image of what enjoyable could be like, than looks solid to me.

Having not played a Bard in a long time, I was unfamiliar with the Improvisation spell, I'm interested in finding ways to make use of it myself.

Your comment on Mimicing Song reminded me of this:

I don't know whether Herzog or Dandu would actually get behind that "appropriate phrase" quote, but it seems to sum up the attitude of some posters here. Which is kinda sad, because it happens that new members, yet unenlightened in the ways of character optimization, sometimes even opposed to the very concept (gasp!), post interesting stuff nonetheless. Furthermore, mistakes happen to all of us.

Bottom line: you had the misfortune of making a post containing erroneous information in a thread started by Dandu, one of the snarkier regulars here. Don't let that stop you from coming, ENworld is, generally speaking, much friendlier, and in my opinion more constructive than some other D&D boards I could name.

There is no point getting into discussing other boards and their quality. Just get back to the topic without snarky comments please. Discuss suggestions in a respectful matter. Thanks.
