A big honkin' medieval ocean liner.

My characters are taking an ocean voyage on a gigantic passenger ship. This ship is as large as a small modern cruise ship and carrys hundreds of passengers.

The route leads through the core of the Empire. The Empire is divided in two halves on two continents. A sizable island in the middle is the home of the Imperial Crown Prince. That's where the party is headed. The sea is pretty firmly in the grip of the Empire, though they do have enemies. It is also heavily patrolled against pirates, though any pirates tough enough can make a mint here. But I'm looking for a sort of "inclusive" adventure involving the other passengers.

The party is traveling to investigate ancient ruins, but that is probably not the point of the adventure. I'm wanting some kind of stand alone adventure on the vessel. The party consists of about ten characters of around tenth level.

Does anyone have any ideas for a cruising adventure? Any ideas for adventures on a large mobile but enclosed space? Any episodes of the Love Boat you always thought would make a good adventure idea?

It is not necessary for the ship to survive, but I would prefer that the party does.

That setting screams Murdery Mystery...just wait until they find out that the one doing the murdering is a powerful level draining undead whose charmed the purser and stowed away in baggage.

Murder, jewel thevies, ghost, terrorist take over (speed 2), a ships graveyard (Sorgasso Sea (sp)), a captians dinner, a ball, costume ball, a map, treasure, a one legged man, sea devils, pirates, sea monsters, the flying dutchman, a sailor on the seas of fate...

okay there is a little babble...

I really like the missing floor idea. You can only see it when you're plastered drunk. If the PC's want to explore it, they're going to have to get loaded first. That may be where the villian in the murder mystery is shacked up.

They are likely to try to worm their ways into any major balls on board as well. The giant termites idea is just evil. The only problem with them is that they are big and kinda slow, making easy targets. Maybe fiendish termites instead.

The climate isn't favorable for icebergs since they're going into the tropics, but then I guess that would be an adventure all to itself, wouldn't it?

they could be attacked by 3 legged cats who run a huge pirateship. these cats could each carry a parrot on their shoulders and have an eye patch!

nah, not believable....;)
