No offense intended to Nightchilde, so please don't take this like I'm aiming it at you. But too often I think the advice here when you run into a "bad" game is to burn your bridges. Am I the only one whose suffered through a bad game, because its better than no game at all? Thankfully, it's been awhile since I've had to do that. But still... Also, the OP made it clear that this is a person he cares about and these are people he likes to play with. My advice would depend on how long the game seems it will last. If you think it'll wrap up fairly soonish...then tough it out and once it's done, collaborate with the others to put together some honest, well intended feedback for the Novice GM. I didn't need someone to tell me my first games sucked, I already knew that. I needed someone to tell me what I could have done better. But, just telling me in the first few game sessions wouldn't have meant much...it was better that I learn these lessons after I'd muddled through and managed as best I could. If you think the game is going to last for awhile and you can't take it any longer...suggest that at the end of a major chapter, you guys take a break from this and someone else run something. During that break time, provide your friend with the same info I cited above...details about how you might enjoy their game more (and word it like that...how you might enjoy it more, not how to make their game better...she sounds like the type that would be sensitive to this). In the end, there are a lot of ways for this to work out well and a lot of ways where it might all come unraveled like a cheap sweater. Good luck...
