So we're walking through the dungeon. We enter the room. A door on the right and the left. Being the careful PCs that we are, we carefully take up positions. Jordan searches the door for traps, Conlin takes post directly opposite the door with arrow knocked holding an action to shoot the first hostile he sees. Xar and Abdul are kinda hanging out in the background (Xar right up against the other door). Jaer, (in troll form thanks to polymorph) throws the door open. The six ogres within have heard us moving around so they have taken up postiions on either side of the door, three to a side, to ambush us. Door flies open, Conlin, having surprise, pops his held action in through the door and rolls a crit. Boom the arrow blows through the first ogre leaving quite alot of him sprayed onto his buddy right behind. The DM thinking it was a mighty cool crit decides the arrow continues on into the one behind him. He is stuck but not dead. Jordan dives into the room and drops one of the ogres with a brutal crit. Jaer follows and with his 10' troll reach covers all the ogres in the room. He drops the sprayed, arrow stuck ogre with a massive greataxe swing spraying much of him and a little of the first ogre's spray onto the third on that side of the room. Jaer spins around and drops a brutal crit on the second ogre on the opposite side of the room. Conlin's initiative comes around and he puts a couple arrows into the last ogre on Jordan's side of the room. Finally, the ogres' initiative comes up. Six ogres pour outta the door Xar is standing next to and attack him and Conlin. The lone gore spattered ogre alone in the room with Jaer and Jordan just stares dumbly at the two of them, scoops up bits of blood and gore with each hand and starts talking to them as if they were still his two friends. Jordan dives out to help his friends in the main room. Jaer levels a savage hit onto the dazed ogre in the room dropping him to 0 hit points, then seeing him wobbling back and forth, completely helpless, walks out to aid in the other room and closes the door behind him. The poor ogre sits there, at 0 hit points unable to move, or really grasp what has just happened and continues to talk to his hands . . . "Ug, Joe, we gunna get em right? We gunna wait right here for em and when they come in we gunna ambush right? Yup they come in any time and we gunna get em right?" From outside his room he can hear the screams of his dying ogre friends, the calls from them asking when his group are going to come out to help them. Finally, silence. The door opens, and Jordan walks in whistling briskly. He searches the corpses for treasure then casually walks up to the lone ogre and efficiently sifts through his belongings for anything interesting (much easier to search em when they are upright and you don't have to roll the corpse and all). He finds a bit of gold and, whistling, leaves the room shutting the door once more, leaving the lone ogre at 0 hit points staring at his bloody mitts dejectedly planning the ambush he and his mates are going to spring when the adventurers come through the door. -Immort
