Melyssa Redfort Melyssa Redfort is the only daughter of Lord Horton Redfort's first wife. Of all of Lord Horton's children, she was the closest to her mother, and the one most affected by her death. Ever since her mother's passing, Melyssa has been a recluce, speaking to nobody unless spoken to, always playing by herself and quietly sitting at the corner of the room doing her needlework. Anyone who chances upon her finished works will note the emblem of House Pryor that is always apparent in her embroidery. She still writes to relatives of her mother's House, in many ways she is more a Pryor than she is a Redfort. Melyssa is a quiet, intensely solemn girl, dutiful and diligent at her studies and chores, but always keeping to herself, though she has in recent years developed a strong rapport with the Redfort household staff. She has long dark hair and huge dark eyes, and is small even for her age, yet she carries herself with a certain grace, belying her Andal ancestry. Her large soulful eyes and prominent ears, in contrast with her small pursed lips give the impression of a person who sees and hears more than she says. Melyssa has designed her own personal arms, which she often displays on a pink travelling cloak she sewed herself: the red castle of Redfort within the eclipse of Pryor. Interestingly, the reverse side of the cloak is black with no motif.
