Introduction

Hi all. I want to thank Paizo for choosing me as the regional coordinator for metro Atlanta. As Atlanta Regional Coordinator( aka..Venture-Captain) for Pathfinder Society, I am excited to have this opportunity to make the Atlanta metro area one of the top choices to attend PFS events anywhere in the world. We also hope to offer more quality PFS events than anywhere else.

As for my background in gaming, my first experience was when my grandmother bought me a small white D&D game box. That was back in early 1978. Since then, I have played many game systems in all genres. I am a Charter Superscriber at Paizo and have been with Pathfinder since the beginning. I currently host two home game sessions on alternating Wednesdays. One is the Rise of the Runelords AP and the other is Legacy of Fire AP. And, I am a Kobold Quarterly subscriber. I am a miniature painting enthusiast and have my own small section of the house that has been turned into a miniature painting studio.

New Central Website

I am pleased to announce the launch of the Pathfinder Society of Georgia Website. You can find the website at http://www.georgiapfs.org . A big thank you goes out to Brian Davison for setting the website up for us. Without his help, I would have had the equivalent of a stick figure drawing for a website. It went live in the middle of last week and we still haev some work to polish it. We are hoping this website will allow a more streamlined effort for scheduling events, as well as bring together all Pathfinder Society enthusiasts in the area.

It has a calendar of metro Atlanta Pathfinder Society events, a message board for use by local PFS players, an email system, links to the local stores that host PFS, contact information for each of my store liaisons that schedule and coordinate PFS Game Days, a sign up area for events, and much more.

Volunteers

I have established store liaisons because they are already locals of the game stores they represent. They have already built a rapport with store owners, managers, and staff, and have the desire to see PFS succeed in their “home” store. Store liaisons will be receiving a polo shirt and travel coffee mug with the Pathfinder Society Logo that identifies them as Asst. Coordinators for the Atlanta region. If they are a DM, as well as a store liaison, they also receive the DM rewards noted below. We still have several stores that need a liaison if you are interested.

For my volunteer DMs, I have set up a DM rewards program that runs parallel to Paizo’s PFS DM rewards. Once you earn your first DM star, you receive a t-shirt that identifies you as a Georgia PFS Judge. Once you earn your second star, you receive a polo (unless you already have one from being a store liaison). Once you earn your third star, you receive a beer stein with the Pathfinder Society logo on it. The rewards for fourth star and fifth star are still being researched.

If you would like to DM one or two PFS scenarios once a month at any store in our area, please let me know. I can put you to work immediately and your respective store liaison will jump for joy!

Current PFS Events

Currently, we are running scheduled Pathfinder Society Game Days every Wednesday and Saturday through the end of 2010 with the exception of the weekends following Thanksgiving and Christmas (though I am not opposed to having them if a store liaison sets it up with the store owners/managers).

PFS Game Days are currently hosted at the following locations:

Raven's Nest (Marietta) -- 1st Saturday of each month
Titan's Games & Comics (Smyrna) -- 1st Saturday of each month
Treefort Games (Fayetteville) -- 2nd Saturday and various Fridays of each month
Galactic Quest Comics & Games (Lawrenceville) – 2nd Saturday each month
Tower Games (Lawrenceville) – Third or fourth Saturday of each month
My House (Dallas) – Third or fourth Saturday of each month

PFS Store Liaisons

I want to thank those who have already stepped up and taken on the position of PFS Store Liaison. If you have specific questions about PFS events at an individual store, you can contact them through the Pathfinder Society of Georgia Website listed above, through the Paizo website under their user accounts, or through me. If they wish to reply to this post with their contact information, that is their choice. The current store liaisons include:

Raven’s Nest (Marietta)
John Drawdy (AKA…Drawdy on Paizo Message Boards)

Treefort Games (Fayetteville)
Nicholas Gray (AKA... Archivist on Paizo Message Boards)

Galactic Quest Comics & Games (Lawrenceville)

Nani Pratt (AKA…Nani Z. Obringer on Paizo Message Boards)
John Compton (AKA... Dire Kumquat on Paizo Message Boards)

Tower Game Center (Lawrenceville)
Kyle Pratt (AKA…Alizor on Paizo Message Boards)
Nani Pratt (AKA…Nani Z. Obringer on Paizo Message Boards)
John Compton (AKA... Dire Kumquat on Paizo Message Boards)

Titan's Games and Comics – Smyrna (Marietta)
Blake Sorensen (AKA... doorslam on Paizo Message Boards)

Current Needs

I have been contacted by more stores who are interested in hosting one PFS Game Day per month. Unfortunately, I have no time left to DM games as I am at each of the above listed Saturday Game Days, as well as some of the weekday games, already DMing. I also have no more volunteers at this time.

If you would like to volunteer to become the store liaison at any of the below stores, you would be able to choose whichever Saturday or Sunday (or weekday depending on store hours) each month that best fits your schedule, decide on what PFS scenarios you want to run, and try to find an additional volunteer DM or two to help if you needed multiple tables for your game day. I would help you, of course, with the advertising of the event on all the various websites, continued recruiting of DMs and players, stepping in as a DM when my schedule allows, entering the Game Day info on Paizo's website (both listing the event and recording results), and get all the promotional material (such as posters) from Paizo sent directly to the store.

As for the stores that are interested in adding a presence of PFS to their weekends, and who I need store liaisons and DMs for before we can move forward, they are as follows:

Titan's Games and Comics -- 2103 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096
Dr No’s Comics & Games – 3428 Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30066
Giga-Bites Cafe -- 2145 Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30062

Coming Soon

We are looking for a location in the southeast Metro Atlanta area (Dekalb County, Rockdale County, Stone Mountain Area). If you know of a location that would like to host an event, please direct them to me.

We will soon be adding a downtown Atlanta PFS Game Day on or near the Georgia Tech campus. Stay tuned for more details!

If you have one day a month to volunteer to DM or manage a PFS Game Day at any of the locations listed above, please contact me.

Welcome to the Pathfinder Society of Georgia! Together we can make it great!
