Our party's resident pyromaniac wizard (a fiery little girl named Cala with a love for trickery) makes frequent use of her cantrips to get the best of people. One of her more common tricks is to use Prestidigitation to create a "temporary coin" which she then uses to pay for a meal or a room at an inn. :P Most times, the barkeep or innkeeper pockets the coin before it vanishes and doesn't realize anything is amiss. When they find they are one coin short later on, they usually assume it fell out of their pocket or they had been the victim of a pickpocket or something. In any event, it rarely leads back to little Cala. Mysterious near hurricane-strength storms had been forming quite suddenly out of nowhere and ravaging the area, and our party was investigating the possibility of cult activity that may have been behind this phenomenon. Anyways, our party stopped at an upscale inn to rest for a bit and to escape the storm that was quickly building up outside. The quality of the inn was far above what the party usually faces. As is her tradition, little Cala conjured up a temporary coin (a platinum one this time) when no one was looking and held it out to the innkeeper while requesting the best suite and services available in return. This is what transpired... Cala: *Holds out the coin to the innkeeper.* Innkeeper: "Oh my! Haven't seen one of them perty' things in a while!" *Pulls a glass jar out of his pocket and motiones for Cala to drop the coin in* Cala: *Drops the coin in* An awkward silence fills the room as Cala and the Innkeeper both realize that the coin hadn't made any clattering sound as it fell into the jar. In fact, the jar remained cleary empty as the coin mysteriously vanished as it passed the opening's threshold. Innkeeper: *Holds up the empty jar, looking through the glass, before switching his gaze to little Cala with a dissapointed look on his face* "Horous! Jonesy!" Horous and Jonesy: *Both human men step out from a back room, looking like they may have descended from ogres* (In unison) Yeah boss? Innkeeper: (While pointing at little Cala) "It looks like we got us another one of them cheatin', low-down, no good, filthy, magic-abusin' dogs!" Horous and Jonesy: *Snatches up little Cala (who looked about to cry at the apparent failure of her fun little scheme) and effortlessly tosses her into the torrential rain outside. She literally vanishes into the wall of rain. Then the two thugs take guard positions by the front door and begin to stare intimidatingly at the remaining party members* Innkeeper: *Holds up the jar again, this time to the nervous party* "Now, who else would like to pay for a room?" The party's real coins made real clattering sounds as they fell into the "magic jar of dispelling" (very much like one would expect a normal coin to do). :P This story might not be the funniest thing you have read on this board, but it sure added a lot of extremely fun detail to our game this evening. :D
