A little trick I learned last night.

First Post
When a PC/Enemy gets pushed away from their foe by 1 square the pushed figure can than shift/move THEN charge back at the pusher (as they will then have 2 squares distance availible). Dwarves need not apply ;)

Of course combat is complex and this won't work in all circumstances.
Anyone else have neat combat tricks?

As a tangent from that: Since Charge is a Standard Action and Shift is a move action, anyone can shift away from their current opponent and charge another...provided the proper spacing.

It's cool that the "5ft step" is dead.

Not sure it's worth it, unless you've got Powerful Charge or other effects that are charge related.

The +1 attack you get from charging just isn't powerful enough to compete with your at-wills most of the time. The real benefit of charge is the ability to move twice your speed and still attack--something that doesn't come up when you're adjacent to the character.

You don't get to move twice your speed anymore on a charge, just your speed.

I think he meant that if you combine a charge (standard action) with a move (move action), you can move twice your speed and still attack.

Interesting, that's just like how in WoW, when you get knocked back a short distance from a monster, the quickest trip back can be to step back further and Intercept.

It's retarded in that, and it's retarded here.

Well.....no it's not the quickest trip back in 4e. It in fact uses more actions to reach your target then a regular shift would.

The steap back and intercept thing isn't usually the quickest or best option in WoW either unless your target is running away from you.

But I do applaud the great effort you made to come up with a WoW reference :)

But you can move your speed and then charge, which is "moving twice your speed". ;)

I'm not so sure that's true. The rule specifies that AFTER a Charge, you are not allowed any further actions unless you spend an Action Point, meaning you can't Charge, then Move, or even use a Minor Action. This would imply that you can't do these things BEFORE the Charge either...but it would be great to get clarification from WotC.
