An update for the item Well, I have been looking this over and I found an error that led me to check on a couple other things again. This led me to redesign the order in which things fall, thus creating an different path. I removed the Comprehend languages and Magic Cipher abilities. The Comprehend Languages was more appropriate for the sword to have and not transfer to the character, based on the 2 ED version, so I rolled that into the Intelligence Legacy. I beefed up the omen for the item by making it equivalent to Detect Magic when concentrating. Here are my revised levels: 5 +1 weapon enhancement (increased to +3) from menu A (unchanged) 6 nothing 7 Bane vs Kuo Toa from Menu B 8 Strength as spell 1/day from menu A 9 nothing 10 Strength as spell 2/day from menu B simulating menu A 11 Immunity to Symbol of Insanity from Kuo Toan only from menu D. I also took liberty with this one because there is nothing that came similar to this particular power and I figure with limiting it to just Kuo Toan versions of the spell would reduce its effectiveness plus it is the only spot I could find to place it that did not appear to be undervalued too much or come available too late in the game... 12 Major Intelligence Legacy from Menu D to include the sword's ability to comprehend three languages (Aboleth, Drow, and Kuo Toa) 13 Bane vs Aboleth from Menu B taking a Menu D slot 14 Detect Secret Doors from Menu D 15 nothing 16 See Invisibility from menu E 17 Instill Confusion as the Spell vs Kuo Toa only when struck in melee from Menu G 18 Extended Strength as augmented spell 2/day from menu D taking a Menu G slot 19 Bane vs Drow from Menu G (this brings the total enhancement bonus to +6 requiring the higher slot) 20 Extended Strength spell 3/day from menu A taking a Menu G slot This also changes the omen to the ability to "see" magical auras by concentrating as the spell, Detect Magic. I found a precedent for this kind of omen amoung the example items in the WOTC book. I would not try to fit so many unlisted powers into one item if they were not already created in a previous work under an older edition. Kinda like sticking a small square peg into a big round hole.... So, does anyone see any fallacy in my new logic so far? For the first trial I will probably go with the research option since the bad guy you get it from is not one of its racial enemies. The second tril is most definitely going to be an assasination of a Kuo Toan leader. The third will be the result of confusion on Kuo Toan society, much like the already planned fall of the City of the Glass Pool. I just need to figure out the specifics...
