A New Story Hour!!! Strange Friends, Of Mountains & Molehills

I've just posted the introduction to a retelling of my last campaign in Story Hour.

A Preview:
It was a campaign of temptation, redemption, bad hygiene (the dwarven druid...), stupidity (the orc), a little heroism, and lots of greed. Five adventurers with little in common eventually do more good than even the most pious knight.

Enjoy,
C.I.D.

Here's a link to it:

And, for the lazy people, here's the link to Strange Friends, Of Mountains & Molehills.

(and yes this was added days after I first posted this thread)

Glad to have you!

I know that this isn't related to your storyhour, but since my own story hour (or my players' story hour, more accurately) is an Oriental Adventures game, I'd love to hear about your experience in Beijing!

Over there

China was a blast! I was there for about six months, and it was kind of suprising that I ended up playing D&D. I kind of wound up hanging out with a lot of cool people who wanted to play. So I ended up having my main books sent over.....

Anyway, besides geeking out and playing D&D, I went to class in downtown Beijing right off the subway line. The weekends were pretty wild, in the bar district. Also I was amazed out how modern parts of many of China's cities were. Being in Shanghai gave me that feeling of watching "Akira". Its hard to describe, but I guess it boils down to mammoth state-of-art skyscrapers with Oriental buildings dotting the streets below.

I saw also lot of cool temples and things like, including the Shaolin Temple which inspired a few things later on in the campaign. Seeing little kids beat the hell out of each other using techniques that look like they'd kill normal people was really fun. The most amazing technique I saw, was a young teenager sitting Indian style and holding himself off the ground with only two fingers.

I also saw Xinjiang, the mainly Muslim Chinese province bordering Afganistan. I saw beautiful Buddhist ruins, the Flaming Mountain from Journey to the West, and also went riding with some Kazach horsemen. Xinjiang was definetely my favorite place in China, and I hope to visit it again someday when the political situation calms down a bit.

Anyway Rune if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. In terms of D&D inspirations, I got a helluva lot over there which will come up in my Story Hour a bit I think.

Later,
C.I.D.

Wow. Did they teach monkeys? (I only ask because of one my players...)

Wow. It sounds like you got to travel quite a bit!

By the gods, yes! Keep'm coming! I'm already getting insideous little ideas for my campaign! Can't wait to see what pops up in yours!

Okay well I did a lot today! I got my entire campaign world introduction posted, and I just finished writing the first actual story for my Story Hour.

A word of advice, skip the campaign introduction and move right into the Story Hour. I only posted the intro since I don't have a webpage and because I didn't want to have to needlessly overburden the story with basic facts about my campaign world.

G'Night,
C.I.D.

Now I'm off to the bars.....i love Long Island Iced Teas. The best bang for your buck!

Thanks for the link Hatchling Dragon! I actually haven't figured out how to do that sort of thing yet......

C.I.D.

you do (and I'm spacing it out, so you can actually see it; there are actually no spaces) [ u r l = web address ] what you want to call the link [ / u r l ]

By the way, I've said it there, but I'll say it here, too: Great story hour!

Thanks again for the kind praise and also the tech advice. I've been meaning to learn how to design webpages and the like for years, but never have.

Anyway, I hope people enjoy this Story Hour. I've got a bit of free time tomorrow, so I'll probably write up a pretty long update. Even though the campaign's been over for a long time, my memory of each session is near perfect, and since I have an entire notebook full of the PCs character sheets at various levels, this Story Hour will be pretty consistent with a real gaming session.

Can't wait!

And, by the way, you can turn that address in your sig into a link, as well, the same way as in the body of your post!
