Message: <blockquote data-quote="Katerek" data-source="post: 635120" data-attributes="member: 5193">I play a Gnoll.In fact he is my favorite character to play.We play in this area that was very loosely based on Rokugan and our characters all come from the fringes with no clan.  The humans in this culture are very racist and have pushed the non human races to the extreme edges of the land.  The gnolls live in the north lands in a cold tundra environment.  They hate the humans.  I love gnolls for whatever reason and I have come up with a mental exercise in order to get into character when playing mine.I think of a wolf, and a wolf pack.  Then I make it matriarchal in structure on the home front and patriarchal in structure on the war front, very similar to some Amerindian cultures.  I then throw in a few cowardly scavenger like tendencies to give it a more chaotic and hyena like feel.  Then, I play my character as if coming from this area and he is a Ghengis Khan like figure, or destined to be one.  Basically, we are playing the gnolls as if they fill the role of the mongol hordes.  (None of this of course is meant as a slam on anyone of any culture on earth)</blockquote>
