While I'm unsure where the best place to post this is, I'll default to here, because I'm more likely to find out whether or not I'm wrong.
In any case, my question is this:
How does one make maps, especially tactical and area maps (larger scale stuff not so much) in photoshop, or more to the point, how does WotC make their maps (i.e. in published adventures) I'm hoping for sugestions, or better yet tutorials, idealy in photoshop (or painter, or GIMP, etc... They all translate technique-wise).
Before anyone says, I'm familiar with just about every RPG mapmaking program there is, Dundjini, CC, Dungeoncrafter, Dungeonforge, etc. I'm unhappy with all of them for various reasons. Higher-end stuff like CC or Dundjini is hindered by symbol libraries--when I'm trying to make something with a specific and consistent aesthetic, they fall flat because the symbol libraries are inadequate. Dungeoncrafter 1 is my favorite program, ironicaly, because it's easier to make tiles, but it's too simple, and not especially flexible.
