The point is, what you spoeculate upon is so far out of character for Celeborn as to not be possible. He was badly shaken by the news of Gandalf's death and the revelation of a balrog being so close by - cut him some slack. He would have regained his composure eventually, without Galadriel's counsel, and would certainly never have slain the companion of his granddaughter's betrothed.</blockquote>
