This makes a lot of sense. I'm going to need to put the elevation map with a key. The topology of Ellindam is very similar to London and it's heights are no more that 180 m (590 ft), with the exception of skiles. An important bit about the ARM is there's a skile that is always higher than any other structure--not just in Ellindam but in the entirety of the country and anywhere it rules. I was thinking that there was likely some law related to it. The royal family has a lot in common with Yertle the Turtle. If you wouldn't mind placing these on the map as you see them I can also do it on my end. This sounds like a good idea. There are actually three reasons there are no bridges to either Lambeth or Circle Isle: 1) They prefer to fly. While carriages exist (even something like a car might exist since there are certainly ways to make inanimate objects move even without an engine), the folks of Cynelsa like to flaunt their wealth and will generally avoid anything that doesn't fly if they can help it. This isn't a practical attitude, but the rich are not generally known for being practical. 2) The part of Circle Island closest to them is where the mage academy is. There's technically no reason a bridge can't be close to them, but I keep thinking there might be some bad blood or old issue that kept a bridge from being built back in the day and with flight being common enough (in Cynelsa, at least), there's no really good reason to build one. 3) They absolutely resent having to share land with both Robinford and Waveswith leading to the barrier you mentioned below. They either never let a bridge with Lambeth be built or they never reconstructed it after the Great Burning. "When they build/rebuild the L-C bridge" is a likely phrase akin to "when Hell freezes over" and variations on it could lean to more cynical takes on something unlikely "Oh, sure, and next they'll build/rebuild the L-C bridge" or similar. This makes sense. I'm not sure how bleak Robinford is in the present. I keep viewing it in my head as more akin to Metropolis from Superman, but I can definitely see it being a very bleak place to live once upon a time and, in my head, there's a district in it that's still very much got buildings like this and feels a lot more like Gotham City.
