I don't really get how they hope to pull this off while remaining faithful to the source material. A significant portion of the central characters are very young children. IIRC, Brand is 6, his sisters are 8 and 10. Denerys is 12 or 13. Lots of problems here for the producers. They need good actors, they need to deal with the fact that they're going to keep growing up, and they need to deal with depicting children in such horrible situations. I think a lot readers disconnected themselves from just how young a character like Arya is when she goes through such disgusting ordeals. It'll be a lot harder to disconnect in a TV series.

There's nothing specific about the characters that require them to be so young. Brandon being 6? Doing what he was doing at the beginning of the first book? Makes more sense if he is about 9. That'd push Arya and Sansa to about 12-13.

But yeah, lots of nasty stuff going on. I can't really imagine how they'll get across the reason why the Mountain is so disgusting.

I think Martin's even said that he kind of wishes he'd made the kids a few years older in the beginning. So the folks making the TV show can do that. They're almost going to have to cast someone 18 or older for Dany.

I always pictured Daenerys as being 18-ish, and Jon Snow can be comparable to that. From Jon we can extrapolate the ages of the Stark kids.
