From the former volunteer staff of the online magazine Knowledge Arcana:
For nine issues, Knowledge Arcana has been the Wizards of the Coast online community magazine, bringing you the best and brightest from the WotC online community. With the coming of Gleemax, KA was set to grow and evolve.
When Knowledge Arcana started to rebuild its staff after a period of downtime, several new folks came on board with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. As is typical of gamers who care deeply about their hobby, all had their own ideas on how things should be done, and dissension occurred. Regrettably, some of that dissension spilled over into the forum here, and for that we collectively apologize.
Though we managed to work our way through most of the issues and misunderstandings, we eventually reached an impasse. Our art director, doubtless with the best of intentions, took it upon himself to trademark the Knowledge Arcana name, without the knowledge of the rest of the staff. KA has always been an amateur endeavor, and in the push to get issue 10 produced, it simply never occurred to us to worry about trademarks and the like. We were wrong in that.
Because this move was made without the permission or knowledge of management, and the issue has brought yet more conflict to disrupt our production, the magazine's management team has decided to sever ties with the new owner of the trademark and make a fresh start.
We will be moving forward with a new name and a new focus. More details will be forthcoming soon. In the meantime, artists and authors who contributed to Knowledge Arcana, especially in regards to issue 10, should be advised that our former art director, known on these forums as Adamx20, does not represent the staff of the old KA, or Wizards of the Coast. If you have contributed articles or art to issue 10, please PM both Penny_Williams and Adamx20 to say whether you would like your material to stay with KA (in Adam’s hands) or be used in the inaugural issue of the new magazine.
What Adamx20 chooses to do with the name “Knowledge Arcana” is now his business, and we wish him well with his venture. As for the rest of the staff, we hope to grow and learn from this experience as we move forward into new endeavors and a new magazine.
Thank you for your time and patience.
