Okay, impressed by the success of my Blood Eating thread for my IRL Oriental Adventures game, now I'm posting with some idea requests for my PbP d20 steampunk game. :D The PCs are the motley crew of a stolen passenger zepplin called the Black Cirrus, and after reviewing various openings for work, have decided to go collect on the debt of one Heath Mester, a reclusive thaumaturge of some power (Wizard 10) who died owing Mostlin's (homage to Sephulchrave II) Collections Et Al. a great deal of money. The party is to catalogue the baubles and jewjaws found within, both steamcraft and thaumaturgical, and after Mostlin picks and chooses what settles the debt, they will be paid both in some coinage and the rest of the items. Mr. Mester owned quite a bit of property in a pass through the Thunderhorn mountains, and has the entirety over it surrounded in a five-hundred foot tall, one-hundred foot thick Wall of Stone shaped to look like various rearing gargoyles and serpents. Within are rather expansive grounds and gardens (in disrepair with his death) as well a sizable mansion. Now, of course this guy is going to have some traps, so let's brainstorm some ideas for those. A few I've come up with: Illusory Wall covering various pits and deadfalls, the obvious Symbol of Sleep or Symbol of Pain, though without Mr. Mester around himself to combat intruders, their effectiveness will obviously be lessened -- but they're still there. Also, as a bit of the plot, before his death Mr. Mester had used Lesser Planar Binding to contract a 6HD succubus into his employ, with the promise to protect the grounds of his property and the reward of a sizable amount of young, kidnapped boys (he never got around to that bit). Being a worshipper of the Great Cog, one of a few technology deities, Mr. Mester's spirit now dwells on a very lawful plane, and his succubus can't exactly go there to inform him that his grounds were safe up until the moment of his death. Thus, she is stuck in a bit of a pickle, and is quite pissed off. So let's hear some traps, some creative uses of spells, and some effects of a very pissed of succubus prowling the grounds. Remember, steampunk steampunk steampunk! Cogs, levers, boilers, etc. I'll be working on some of my own stuff but I love the ideas you guys come up with. :D BTW, the party are all level 5 and I am using mostly D&D 3.5e Core, Sorcery & Steam and a few Eberron things (there is one Changeling in the party, though they are handled as human mutations who are usually drowned at birth).
