A Tavern Full of Adventurers

Adventurer
The Premise: the Regent of Cormyr has issued a call to adventuring parties to gather at a particular tavern. The next day, she will issue quests to various groups. The night before she issues the quests, the Regent plans to mingle incognito amongst the adventuring groups to get an idea of their character.

I'm looking for a number of events, confrontations and misunderstandings to pass the night before the Regent assigns the quests (temporary brain freeze). Ideally, the adventure should be a blend of roleplaying, humor and some (preferably non-lethal) action. Any help would be appreciated. I have a number of NPCs listed below that will likely be there, but if you want to add some, more power to you.

Notes: this is the start of a new campaign (level 5 pcs) where players get to know one another. This is meant to be a one-night adventure, before they start on their primary quest. However, I'm hoping that this night will provide complications for the future.

NPCs:
*the Regent, protected by an alter-self spell
*tavern owner, serving staff
*Moradin's Fist, a party of 4 dwarves (lvs 4-6, mostly neutral), very drunk and surly
*Order of the Golden Basilisk (a group of 5, lvs 3-5, mostly good)
*Leage of Noble Arcanists (3 wizards, a f/w and a r/w), all lv 6, mostly neutral
*The Tempests, a party of 6 characters, lvs 2-6, mostly evil
*The Silver Triangle, 3 paladins (all lv 4, LG)
*Erdan the Vibrant (a transmuter, lv 9, Neutral), looking to form a group that he will lead
*Yannis, (a bard 7, CN). Looking to steal magic items from anyone he can without putting himself at risk. Otherwise, a good source of information for the party.
*the Puissant Scourge, a party of 4 characters, all level 1 warriors. These 4 are totally over their heads, and are mostly for comic relief.

Tavern times..

Well, I have run the following a few times...

Singer is quite attractive, but terrible at singing and is chased off the stage. PC can offer to soothe her tears by listening to her songs which will please her greatly since she is cursed until somebody can stand listening to her sing.

Misunderstanding at card game. Some gold somehow got from a dwarf to an orc. Neither party is eager to just settle the matter. PCs can try to soothe things or cause a riot.

A thief is "successful" at using his emulation magic ability and uses a ring to summons a hostile and uncontrolled demon. Demon dices thief while party decides whether to fight or flee.

Afterwards party has the ring to take care of. Several parties will want it, or a share of its GP value, despite a danger it will summons another demon as soon as touched.

One of the prostitutes wants to change professions [actually to become a thief, but that's only known to her new partner] An inn guard wants her to stick to her current trade.]

A wandering PC may find the body of a dead guard, killed by 2 people apparently.

A woman accuses the owner of the tavern of rape, after she attempts to burn the place down.

The woman is handed over to an inn patron she attacked for what punishment he deems suitable. Since that seems to involve torture and/or rape, PCs may want to help her.

The woman, once freed, once again tries to burn the place down, and this time gets a good fire going. Everybody gets to work putting out the fire, getting the wounded out of the building, etc...

[Oh yes, a number of the PC who have tried this were not nice people and tried to use the fuss to kidnap people into slavery.]
