Primarily plant eaters, it has been shown on episodes of Discovery Channel and Science Channel, eg Rogue Nature, that rogue hippopotaumus do indeed consume meat from crocodile kills.

One episode shows a hippo munching on an antelope after stealing it away from a croc.
Another show has also shown cannibalistic behaviors...and deaths due to something akin to mad cow disease.

Pandas are primarily herbivores (99% bamboo) but do sometimes eat insects, grubs, birds and small rodents.

Hippo are savage killers and the true terror of Africa
 


That's what I was taught for years...then someone pointed out that there had been a change in their classification. At least according to a few biology websites. Wikipedia also agrees:
