A tiefling template? Help Please!

Grim

First Post
HI! In an upcoming campain I will run, an imp and a goblin priestess have kids. The party has to kill the kids, the imp, and the priestess, along with the rest of the tribe. The only problem is, I cant figure out what things to add to the tiefling goblins to make them, well, tieflings. I dont want to add the half-fiend template, because that would raise thier CR too high. What special attacks, special qualities, or ability adjustments can I add to a goblin to make it a tiefling goblin, but still have a low CR?

Thanks for your help!

How about a tiefling template (i think that is what it is- or it could be Aasimar- don't have my book) from the DMG. It is in the Monster as PC section (somewhere around page 50-60) and it gives basic bonuses for NPCs. Most are very generic with just a couple of bonuses.

You might want to try the Fiendish template instead of the Half-Fiend template. It scales better for the lower level campaign it looks like you're running.

Regardless of that a tiefling template would look like this:

Spawned by Darkness
"Spawned by Darkness" is a template that can be added to any corporeal creature of nongood alignment (referred to hereafter as the "base creature"). Beasts or animals with this template become magical beasts, but otherwise the creature type is unchanged. A fiendish creature uses all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Special Attacks: A "Spawned by Darkness" creature retains all the special attacks of the base creature.

Special Qualities: A "Spawned by Darkness" creature retains all the special qualities of the base creature and also gains the following.

Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

Fire, cold, and electricity resistance 5

If the base creature already has one or more of these special qualities, use the better value.

Saves: Same as the base creature
Abilities: +2 Dex, +2 Int, -2 Cha
Skills: Same as the base creature
Feats: Same as the base creature
Climate/Terrain: Any land and underground
Organization: Same as the base creature

Challenge Rating: As base creature +1

Treasure: Same as the base creature
Alignment: Tendency towards evil (any).
Advancement: Same as the base creature
