A true map-of-mystery? Anybody seen this?

Among the many maps at the WOTC site, I always wondered about this little treasure.

Does anyone know where it came from? Was it created just for the site like the others? I ask because it has an old look about it that screams 1st edition module.

Anyone used it?
I'd love to see some keyed entries associated with it.

I'm not sure where it came from but it has been used in one of the free adventures posted on Wizards site. The adventure is called "Start at the End" and is for 7th level parties. I'm currently using it for a side game.

I played in a campaign run by Wulf Ratbane, and he used that map for one adventure... It was a Yuan-Ti-palooza, with a large pitched battle out in the front area, as I recall. Lots of fun - though we lost a couple PC's...

I don't do a lot of dungeon crawls, but I actually used that map in a game about a year or so ago. It was a haunted keep, one of those places where the nature of the environment changes at the whim of the ghosts, but the effects are very real, not illusory. One of my PCs learned that when he fell into the pits at area 8.

See, in this version, they weren't tar. They were... ummm, how to phrase this safely?

Boiling liquid feces. :D

Yes, it's gross; but it perfectly fit the attitude of the spirits haunting the place. And for what it's worth, the PC survived.
